The Little Pioneers are playoff bound.
The 5-7 Warren County Pioneers earned a playoff berth in the Southern Middle Tennessee Youth Football League with a 55-0 win Saturday over the Manchester Red Raiders.
Warren County (5-1) was unstoppable on offense, relying on lefty Levi Scott to power the team to points. Scott tossed touchdowns to A.J. Whitman and Treyvion Mathis, along with running for several more on his own.
The offensive highlights came early and often for the Pioneers, who relied on an air attack to build a huge first-half lead.
Shortly before halftime, Scott was able to survey the defense and found Whitman streaking through middle of the field. Whitman made a shoe-string catch, then raced past the Red Raiders for a touchdown before the break. Mathis added a conversion run, giving his team a 42-0 lead at halftime.
Scott started the scoring in the second half on a magnificent run.
After fumbling the snap, Scott was able to pick up the ball and avoid two tacklers. One Red Raider grabbed Scott around the ankles, but was only able to pull off Scott’s shoe instead of bringing down the elusive quarterback. Scott, with one shoe, broke two more tackles and was able to race down the sideline for 33-yard touchdown run.
Scott continued his highlight-reel performance on the final snap.
With the Red Raiders hoping to break through on the scoreboard, Scott was able to step in front of a pass at his own 5. Scott returned the interception 95 yards, ending the game with his sixth touchdown.
The win puts the Pioneers in this weekend’s playoff round held in Shelbyville. The Pioneers are slated to play at 9 a.m. With a win, Warren County would advance to the pee wee league Super Bowl held in Lynchburg Nov. 4.
