League leaders stay unbeaten

The Little Pioneer League has seen two teams rise to the top in their respective divisions. Small Shots started out 6-0 in the boys league, while GBR Construction duplicated the feat in the girls division.Both teams were able to keep their undefeated seasons alive Saturday, but it wasn’t easy for either squad.Small Shots had to win a free-throw shootout in overtime to beat the Outdoor Shop while GBR Construction rallied late to best Big Mo’s 19-11.The Little Pioneer League, run by WCHS girls basketball coach Erick Baird, set up before the season any game tied in regulation would go to the free-throw shootout to decide the winner.The scenario played out when Small Shots and Outdoor Shop finished their game Saturday tied 14-14. Small Shots was able to run its streak of wins to seven straight when it hit 4-of-5 free throws while Outdoor Shop hit only one.Braylon Grayson took a starring role for Small Shots with 11 points to lead the team to victory.
