Coming off an emotional win last Thursday against Cookeville, coach Todd Willmore was worried his team would come out flat when it took the field Tuesday against Coffee County. The Lady Pioneers eased their coach’s mind by playing stifling defense and getting two goals from Morgan McCormick to win 2-0 over the Lady Raiders on their home turf.In a physical game, Warren County had all the answers to the Coffee County offense and McCormick made two big plays to pace the Lady Pioneer offense. For coach Willmore, it was just about bringing the same amount of energy Tuesday the team played with last week against the Lady Cavaliers.“I thought we played pretty well considering we were coming off a big win,” said Willmore. “I was pleased with their effort overall. We were a little impatient in the first half, but aggressive.“The girls played like the game meant something and didn’t overlook their opponent.”The first half was played with a physical tone as Coffee County was determined to protect its home field.
