Four months of grueling work in the gym may have taken its toll on the Boyd Lady Broncos, but the finish line is in sight.Boyd (13-15) will get this week off before finishing its season next week by competing in the NACA national tournament held in Dayton.Following back-to-back losses in the MTAC tournament over the weekend, coach Stephen Glenn wanted to give his Boyd Lady Broncos a small break. Boyd fell in the semifinals Friday to the eventual champion Lighthouse Christian, then followed it up with a 46-33 loss to the Middle Tennessee Heat in the consolation game Saturday. In the consolation game, junior Claire LeDuc led the Lady Broncos with 13 points while freshman Rhiannon Hoover scored 10. Mackenzie Pistole added five, followed by Sammye Jo Medley with three and Brooklyn Bain with two.Falling in two straight tournament games dropped the Lady Broncos to 1-6 in their last seven games after claiming 10 victories in a 13-game stretch through the middle of their schedule.Coach Glenn is hopeful a few days off, which ends Wednesday when the team gets back to work at J.K. Stanley Gymnasium, will help bring back the energy of his squad.“We have to polish our skills and we’ll need to develop a deeper bench by next season,” said Glenn.
