This time, the Boyd Lady Broncos had to squeak out a victory. Boyd made the trip to Springfield on Thursday and had to come from behind to beat South Haven Christian, 59-50. The win improves the Lady Broncos to 25-2 on the season and 11-0 in district. Boyd coach Tim Page said being able to pull out a tight game was something the team needed in a season where many of the team’s games have been one-sided blowouts.
Boyd was down 43-42 entering the fourth quarter when point guard Laney Copeland came to life. She scored 12 of her 19 points in the fourth and was deadly from the foul line, going 6-of-7.
The Lady Bronco defense also picked up the intensity, holding South Haven to just one field goal in the fourth quarter, a 3-pointer.
