Scoring was at a premium Monday night at Dibrell Gym as the fifth- and sixth-grade elementary girls basketball league began its season with a preseason tournament.Of the four teams in action on opening night, only one scored in double digits as defenses did a great job of limiting shots.Irving College was the only team to find the range consistently on offense as the Lady Tigers defeated the Morrison Lady Eagles 29-7. In the second game, the Eastside Lady Bulldogs beat the Centertown Lady Warriors 9-8.Riley Desmarais and Caylie Sherrell each outscored Morrison on their own to lead Irving College to a lopsided win.Desmarais scored 14 points and Sherrell added 10 as Irving College won with ease. The Lady Tigers built a 19-1 lead by halftime as Morrison didn’t connect from the field until Jasmine Cantrell hit a shot in the third quarter.
