In the 12-14 boys youth league division, Gary Steele Karate Studio defeated Game Xchange 10-2 to remain undefeated on the season before entering tournament play this week.Gary Steele had the visitor’s first bats on Dottie West Field on Friday at McMinnville Civic Center and began with a 4-run lead after Nate Newby, Taylor Smith, Kendall Patrick and Austin Conner all scored for the karate boys.Holding Game Xchange to 0 runs for two-straight innings, the Gary Steele squad would score two more in the second by Newby and Kadin Tackett, now wielding a 6-0 lead over the usually competitive gamers.Game Xchange’s first run came in the third after Blake Adams crossed home but they had to take the field before an offensive rally could capture any more runs, now having to dig out of a 6-1 deficit.It just got tougher on the Xchange gang as Gary Steele Karate had another big inning in the fourth, scoring Newby, Smith, Will Wrisner and Jathan Bogle before taking the field, now leading 10-1.Both teams couldn’t muster much offense in the fifth inning, and the only team to score again before the end of the game was Game Xchange who sent Samuel Davidson home in the bottom of the sixth.Gary Steele Karate ends the season as the top seed entering the playoffs.
