Glenn Rogers sends a ball to the airport after smashing a three-run homerun against First National Bank on Wednesday night. Rogers went 3-for-3 in Ganns Plumbings 15-5 victory over First National.
In the second game of the night at Newtown ballfield, Gann’s Plumbing battled First National Bank. Gann’s built a five-run lead in the bottom of the first inning on its way to a 15-5 victory over First National in three innings via the run rule.This was one of the final meetings between the two teams in the regular season as tournament play is set to begin next week.Gann’s was led at the plate by Glenn Rogers, who went 3-for-3 with a home run, a single and a double.First National was led at the plate in the loss by Bryan Bouldin, who went 3-for-3 with two singles and a triple.First National grabbed the one-run lead in the top of the first thanks to an RBI single by Bubba Lee, to break the scoreless tie heading into the bottom of the inning, 1-0.Rogers hit a 2-RBI single to start the scoring for Gann’s in the bottom of the inning and give them the lead, 2-1. Gann’s saw four more runs cross the plate before the inning was over thanks to timely hitting up and down the lineup, 6-1, after one.First National made it a two-run game, scoring three runs in the top of the second courtesy of an RBI double by Hobie Stewart and a 2-RBI double by Lee, 6-4.Gann’s continued the scoring barrage in the bottom of the inning, scoring four runs thanks to a Roger’s three-run home run that easily cleared the fence and a RBI single, to give them the six-run lead, 10-4, after two.After First National scored a run in the top half of the third, Gann’s put the game away for good in the bottom of the inning thanks to four more runs crossing the plate courtesy of a 2-RBI double and two RBI singles, to give them the 10-run lead and the win via the run rule, 15-5.
