With each district matchup, the Pi oneers grow stronger. Warren County added to its list of blowouts in District 9-4A play Friday, smashing Spring Hill 71-41 on the road. It was the fifth straight win for the Pioneers, all com ing in district matchups as the squad looks poised to repeat as district cham pion this year. Senior Treyton Terry continued his scorching start to district play, scor ing a game-high 25 points against the Raiders. Terry nearly outscored Spring Hill on his own in the first half, drop ping 18 points as Warren County led 37-21 at the break.


Terry was locked in from down- town, nailing 4-of-5 from deep in the victory. His highlight was a swish late in the first half from well behind the 3-point line, a heat check that touched nothing but net as the senior added to his growing point total in district games. Terry has now scored 109 points in the team's five district bat- tles, leading the way as the Pioneers are halfway to a perfect regular season record in District 9-4A. Terry wasn't the only Pioneer with the hot hand from deep in Colum- bia.


Senior Dylan Stepp came off the bench to nail a pair of triples, Alex van Vuuren had a 3-pointer to kickstart the second half when the Pioneers pushed their lead out to 30 points and Corban Felton came off the bench late to connect from long distance. Keyton Reno was the team's pres- ence in the paint, setting up shop around the rim to put in 13 points. Excitement stuck with the WCHS bench throughout the night and lasted until the waning seconds.


Freshman Kristopher Robledo provided the fi nal spark, slicing through the lane and finishing with a layup around two de fenders for his first varsity points. Warren County was back in action Saturday in Coffee County looking to extend its winning streak. See the Stan dard website for more details from the matchup in Manchester. The Pioneers will resume play this Tuesday, Jan. 30 with a home matchup against Shelbyville.
