Good thing it wasn’t raining out Friday, because neither the Morrison Eagles nor Centertown Warriors could find their way inside.
It was the Morrison 5-6 grade Eagles who took the win, 29-18, making the evening a clean sweep for the teams in green.
Both teams played a tight defense keeping scoring to a minimum.
Shutting out Centertown, 6-0, in first-quarter, the Eagles led, 16-8, at the half before putting up the best offense of the night, again shutting out the Warriors, 13-0 in third-quarter play.
“The game got off to a slow, sluggish start for us,” said Morrison coach Kyle Cannon. “Centertown’s boys were quick and really hustled. Our defense and rebounding finally picked up in the second half. Our size and good passing paid off in the end.”
Leading Morrison’s offense was Connor Farmer with 9 points, Caylon Driver 6, Kayden Coates and Jayron Morris hit for 4 points each, and Ethan Hall scored 2 points.
Centertown’s scoring breakdown was Ashton Griffith, Peyton Adams and Lane Self had 4 points each and Aiden Miller, Baler Melton and John Prater all hit for 2 points apiece.
Centertown (11-6) travels to Warren County Middle School for its last game of the season Tuesday, Dec. 6, before the end-of-season tournament at Irving College on Dec. 8.
Morrison (12-4) will play host to Dibrell on Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 6 p.m. before entering the postseason tournament.
