The Covenant Academy middle school and high school volleyball teams have been busy in recent days as their season is underway.
The Lady Lions finished in the top four at the Lancaster Christian Volleyball Jam last Saturday. Then on Tuesday night, the Lady Lions played host to Enrichment Fellowship School and lost the JV game 2-0 and the varsity game 3-1.
Lady Lions head coach Chris Madewell had this to say about both teams, after both failed to chalk up a victory.
“Our JV team struggled to play as a team. They were not used to playing together. The high school team played a good first set and won it, but lost momentum in the next three sets and could not get it back.”
On Thursday night the Lady Lions were back on the court as they went up against against Daniel 1 Academy and Boyd at Boyd Christian School. The Lady Lions won both the JV and varsity games, 2-0.
“We had a very solid performance in all four sets. The players did a great job of getting their serves in. They also pass, set and hit the ball well,” Madewell said. “Katherine Shelton and Naina Patel both had lots of kills during the matches. Emma Madewell did an excellent job of getting the ball and making great sets and Ariana Hutchins had several blocks from the middle position.”
Madewell added, “I’m really proud of all the girls.”
The Lady Lions will be back in action Tuesday as they travel to Riverside Christian Academy.
