Covenant Academy soccer teams win in Brentwood

The Covenant Academy middle school soccer team was back in action on the road Monday when they traveled to Brentwood to take on Currey Ingram Academy.
The Lions won 8-3 with Jackson Smith and Will Cheek scoring three goals apiece. Elijah Smith and Terry Hines scored a goal each.
The Covenant Academy high school team won 4-3 against Currey Ingram. Andrew Palmer and Grant Peterson had a goal apiece and Anthony Palmer contributed two goals.
The Lions fell behind, 0-2, in the first half. With five minutes to go in the first half, the Lions scored two quick goals to make it, 2-2, at the half.
The Lions weren’t done, as they scored two more in the second half and Currey Ingram picked up a goal, late in the game. The Lions were able to hold off Currey Ingram in the final minutes for the victory.
On Thursday night, the Covenant soccer teams played at Franklin Christian Academy. The Covenant middle school team lost, 3-1, in a hard-fought game.
Will Cheek scored the only goal for the Lions. The Lions were ahead at the half, 1-0.
The Covenant high school team struggled with three of its starters out due to illness and injuries against a very talented FCA team.
During the first half, senior leader Anthony Palmer fell and broke his arm, ending his season. The Lions were losing, 5-0, at the half and the game was called due to heavy rain.
