Being beaten twice in the regular season by 1 point by the Lady Tigers, Boyd’s Lady Broncos hung on for a 1-point victory, 41-40, over the Irving College Lady Tigers in the season-ending 7-8 grade tournament last week.The wins gives the Lady Broncos third place in the tournament.Down 23-15 at halftime, Boyd found another gear on both offense and defense tying the game, 30-30, after three. The Lady Broncos shot 13-of-16 for 81 percent from the foul line to help catch up to the Lady Tigers, and the offense of Alaina Stiles – who hit a game-high 26 points – was consistent throughout the ballgame.Irving College hit 7-of-20 for 35 percent, leaving some points on the table they would have liked to have back. Ella Bond scored 17 points for the Lady Tigers being the leading scorer for the club.
