Security Federal got off to a quick start over its opponent, Bob Young Nursery at Hoover and Milraney Field but they had trouble securing that lead and Bob Young Nursery came back late in the game and pulled the rug out from under Security Federal.
Security Federal held a three-run lead in the first two at-bats but Bob Young Nursery never rolled over and through their hard work and perseverance walked away with a 6-3 win over Security Federal.
Security Federal got off to a relatively quick start in the top of the first inning. Brody Womack homered to lead off the inning and Andrew Key followed with a single. Devan Grayson crushed a pitch for a triple and he cleared the bases for a 2-0 lead by Security Federal. After the first three lead-off batters, the following three batters were retired in order.
The same cannot be said for Bob Young Nursery. The top of the lineup did not produce although Lucas Young made contact but then got called out at second base trying to stretch his single into a double for the first out. A fly ball was recorded for out two, and the inning ended on a strikeout for the third out and the score remained 2-0.
William Markwood got Security Federal going in the top of the second with a lead-off single. Jack Rhoton added a base hit for the second runner of the inning and Security Federal had runners in scoring position for the second straight inning. After a strikeout for out one, Ryland Mayfield singled and a run scored to make it a 3-0 lead. Security Federal went back to the top of the order for out three to end the inning.
In the bottom of the second, Bob Young Nursery went down in order for the second straight time and down three runs it was time to get the bats out if they had any intentions of climbing back into the game.
The momentum was slowly shifting in the top of the third and Security Federal had been pretty solid up until that point. Jaxon Grissom blasted a double for the only hit of the inning by Security Federal and he was left stranded on base after the third out.
Bob Young Nursery was about to have its best inning of the game in the bottom of the third inning. Aiden Young got things started off with a base hit followed by an out and a hard-hit ball by Ke’Andre Jackson for a single and Bob Young’s Nursery was on the board but trailed 3-1. With a base hit by Young and a huge blast deep for a double by Carter Simpson, here came Bob Young’s Nursery and the score was tied 3-3. Keynai Bryan followed with another base hit for the go-ahead run and Bob Young led for the first time at 4-3 before the third out.
In a strange turn of events, Security Federal’s offense had completely abandoned them and the first two batters faced in the top of the fourth inning went down on strikes for the first and second outs of the inning. Rhoton smashed a deep ball to the gap and he reached second base for his efforts. But that was as far as he got because the final out of the inning came immediately following his double to end the inning.
Bob Young’s Nursery was up in the bottom of the fourth inning and Sawyer Stanton led off the inning with a single. Aiden Young would also reach base after the out at first by the previous batter. Jackson singled and Stanton made his way around the bases for the final run of the game and in an epic come-from-behind 6-3 win Bob Young Nursery defeated Security Federal.
