Jonas Bailey should have earned himself an ice cream cone after this game.
Bailey hit the game-winning home run in the bottom of the sixth to send Edward Jones to a 5-4 victory over Smarty Pants in coach pitch action Friday night at the Civic Center.
Bailey finished with two hits to lead Edward Jones at the plate. Barrett McGinness also had two hits, while Asher Laxson hit a home run.
For Smarty Pants, Eli Richardson had a game-high three hits, while Briley Jones had two hits.
Edward Jones was up 3-0 heading into the top of the fifth. That’s when Smarty Pants woke up from its offensive nap and decided to score some runs.
Briley Jones hit a one-out single that was followed by a Braylor Jones single. Richardson, Jack Steagull and Billy Ray then hit three straight doubles to score four runs as Smarty Pants found itself in the lead, 4-3.
Laxson answered for Edward Jones in the bottom of the fifth with a home run to tie it, 4-4.
After Smarty Pants was held scoreless in the top of the sixth, it set the stage for Bailey to become the hero and he produced with a one-out homer to win the game in dramatic fashion.
