McMinnville resident and White County native Willie Mattie Winnett Rice, 96, was born April 6, 1921 and died May 13 at NHC Healthcare McMinnville following a lingering illness.A retired employee of Sparta Shirt Factory and Century Electric, she was the daughter of the late Hillard Lee and Annie Ledford Winnett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three daughters, Juanita Christian, Faye Lytle and Sue Jernigan; husband Roy Ray Rice; brothers Jess, Haskel, Herbert, S.T., J.D., Tommy, Herman and John Winnett and sisters Della Parker and Rose Winnett. Mrs. Rice is survived by four sons and daughter-in-law, James Leroy Rice of McMinnville, Harold Rice and Charles Rice, both of Sparta, and William and Emma Rice of Spencer; 20 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.
