William Howard Chandler, 82

Rock Island resident and Van Buren County native William Howard Chandler, 82, was born Oct. 27, 1934 and died May 19 at his residence following a brief illness.
Retired from Oster Corporation and Powermatic, a farmer, and a member of the Pentecostal Church, he was the son of the late Andrew Howard and Iva Mae McCoy Chandler. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son Alan Chandler.
He was married May 15, 1970 to Cindy Chandler of Rock Island. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children and spouses, Diane and Tony Rutkosky of Painesville, Ohio, LuAnn and Dwight Bottoms of McMinnville, and Lynn Gregory of Painesville; four grandchildren and spouses, Tiffany and Craig Light, Jennifer and Brian Von Lehmden, Paul Rutkosky and Dustin Chandler, all of Ohio; two great-grandchildren, Allyson Losey and Bryce Von Lehmden, both of Ohio; siblings Louise Maddle of Rock Island, Robert Chandler and wife Paulette of Ohio, and Irene Dare of Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 22 at High’s Chapel with Dick Scott-Welch officiating. Burial will follow at Brick House Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m., and from 11 a.m. until the time of service Monday at High’s. Online condolences may be made at
