McMinnville resident and Rutherford County native Whitney Danyel Brown, 28, was born Aug. 12, 1987 and died Oct. 2 at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga following a sudden illness.
A homemaker, she was the daughter of Bill D. Brown and Darlene Slaughter, both of McMinnville. In addition to her father and mother, she is survived by daughter, Phoenix Willow-Dawn Simpson; fiance, Saul Simpson of McMinnville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jessica and Kenny Campbell of McMinnville, and Amy and Chris Norville of Murfreesboro; maternal grandmother, Hattie Slaughter of McMinnville; aunt and uncle, Larry and Jewell Walker of McMinnville; aunt, Marlene Slaughter of McMinnville; aunt and uncle, Tommy and Carla Savage of Rock Island; niece and nephew, Alex and Sydney Cassidy; special cousin, Laurna Beth McCormick; cousins, Vanessa McCormick, Jay Link, Colten Link, Daniel Savage, Brandon (Jenny) Savage, Kendra (Ethan) Rutledge, and Andrew Rutledge; and special family members, David and Sandy Simpson and family.
She was preceded in death by maternal grandfather, J.E. Slaughter, paternal grandmother, Myrtle Grieves; and paternal grandfather, I.L. Savage.
Funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in High’s Chapel with Jason Brown and Jackie Matheny officiating. Burial will follow at Center Hill Cemetery at Hills Creek. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service Sunday at High’s.
