McMinnville resident and Warwick, N.Y., native Stephen Doty, 72, died Sept. 24 at Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville after a brief illness.The son of the late Clinton and Marcella Doty, he is survived by his wife Marilyn, stepchildren Brian, Stacey and Howard Savige; his children Scott and Randy Doty and Melissa Brown; granddaughters Candace and Elizabeth; several nieces and nephews; sister Margaret Romano and her late husband Thomas of Orlando, Fla., and his brother Glenn Doty and sister-in-law, Barbara Doty of Walden, N.Y.His pastimes were taking care of his cows and taking his two chocolate labs, Smokey Bear and Daisy Mae, for rides in his truck or gator. Stephen did not want anyone to grieve and requested his wife not cry but be happy until they meet again.Arrangements for cremation are under the directions of Gardens of Memory of McMinnville.Southern Standard (McMinnville, Tenn.)
