Van Buren County native and resident Sarah Josephine Acuff Woodlee, 98, was born Oct. 3, 1917 and died March 10 at Saint Thomas River Park Hospital following a brief illness.A homemaker and retired medical assistant, and member of Ashland Terrace Christian Church in Chattanooga, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Hannah Hash Acuff. She was married Aug. 30, 1940 to Livy B. Woodlee, who preceded her in death on Aug. 28, 2003. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by daughter, Jackie Thompson; and brother, Elbert Acuff.She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and David Barks of College Park, Md.; son-in-law, Buck Thompson of Van Buren County; five grandchildren, Leigh Speal, Amber Brock, Whitney Arnold, Andrew Thompson and Sarah Barks; eight great-grandchildren, Nate Harris, Jacob Harris, Paige Brock, Emma Brock, Jerrod Arnold, Caleb Arnold, Samuel Arnold and Jayden Thompson; eight great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.Funeral service was held Saturday in High’s Chapel with Carroll Wallace and Jerrod Arnold officiating.
