Ruby Jo Grogan Swoape, 85

Ruby Jo Grogan Swoape, 85, of Sparta died Thursday morning, Nov. 30, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Swoape was born Feb. 28, 1932 in Birmingham, Ala., to the late Thomas and Christine Jones Grogan. She retired from Mallory after 27 years of employment and was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening and working outside. Ruby was a longtime member of the Church of God of Prophecy and she had a great love and concern for others. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her brother Willard Grogan; sister Geneva Marsh; and halfsister Janie Nell Bond.
Survivors include her husband of four days shy of 70 years, Thomas E. Swoape of Sparta; two sons, Ralph (Ann) Swoape of Quebeck, Howard (Ruby) Swoape of Spencer; three grandchildren, Scott (Tonya) Swoape of Bone Cave, Chrissy (Heath) Young of Sparta, Timothy Swoape of New York; four great-grandchildren, Logan Swoape, Gabrianna Young, Ethan Swoape and Jackson Young; step-grandchildren, James Walker, Stephanie Graham and Josh Graham.
Funeral service was held Saturday, Dec. 2 from the chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial at Doyle Cemetery. Thelma Roby and Todd Newberry officiated.
