Rock Island resident and Grundy County native Roy Eugene Brown, 84, was born Aug. 3, 1929 and died Aug. 10 at Raintree Manor following an extended illness.Retired from Mueller Valve Company, a United States Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Second Baptist Church, he was the son of the late Will and Carrie Woodlee Brown. He was married Dec. 17, 1950 to Christine Jewel Wooten Brown, who preceded him in death Feb. 3. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mae Brown and Cora Lee Brown.He is survived by brother and sister-in-law, James W. and Georgia Brown of California; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Wanda and David Smartt of McMinnville; three nieces, Jan Guaschino of California, Lillian Bryant of McMinnville and Rhonda Owens and husband Allen of Rock Island; nephew, Shane Wooten of McMinnville; and three great-nieces and seven great-nephews.Funeral service was held at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 13 in High’s Chapel with Rev. Harry Green officiating.
