McMinnville resident and Van Buren County native Roy Carson Gibbs, 61, was born May 16, 1953 and died Oct. 21 at his residence following an extended illness.A retired staff sergeant with the U.S. Army during Desert Storm and affiliated with the Church of God, he was the son of the late Daisy Louise Phillips Kitchen. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Clint and Daisy Phillips.He was married to Wilma Scott Gibbs of McMinnville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Michelle Andres and Allen Gibbs, both of McMinnville; six grandchildren, Casey Gibbs, Alexis Bogard, Brooke Gibbs, Tori Bogard, Dakota Gibbs and Aiden Gibbs; two great-grandchildren, Deilyn and Aubrey; and mother-in-law, Josephine Scott of McMin-nville.A memorial service will be announced at a later date.High Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.Southern Standard (McMinnville, Tenn.)
