Roberta Cantrell Green, 80, of Shelbyville, passed on to be with her parents John William Cantrell and Grace Nola Parsley Cantrell on Dec. 2.
She was the granddaughter of John H. Parsley and Emma Myrtle Green Parsley of McMinnville.
She passed at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville after an extended illness of 10 years, with the last five years being bed bound.
She was born in DeKalb County on Oct. 29, 1931 and attended school in Warren County until moving with her parents to Detroit during World War II. After the war, the family moved to Oak Ridge.
She graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1949. After working at the K-25 and Y-12 government plants in Oak Ridge, she attended business and insurance school in Nashville. She worked as an insurance secretary in Oak Ridge until moving to Orlando, Fla., in 1960. She returned to Oak Ridge in 1970 to take care of her parents from extended illness. After her parents passed in ’77 and ’86, she lived with her daughter in Oak Ridge, Knoxville, Chattanooga and Shelbyville. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
She is survived by her daughter, Connie Roberta Green and her grandson, David Robert Green of Shelbyville. She is also survived by several cousins, aunts and uncles in Warren County and Middle Tennessee.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. today at Bluff Springs Church of Christ in McMinnville. Ronnie Powell will officiate with burial to follow at Webb Cemetery. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the church.
Feldhaus Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
