Robert Lewis McBride, 76, died Aug. 26 in Chewelah, Wash.
He was known by many as “Bobby,” “Buster” or “Barometer Bob.” Robert was born the son of Elda Cleveland and Carrie Pauline (Hobbs) McBride on July 29, 1938 in McMinnville. He was raised and attended school in McMinnville. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served his country for 20 years. Upon his retirement and honorable discharge from the United States Air Force in 1975, he moved to Chewelah. For the past 39 years, he was a member of the Chewelah Golf and Country Club and served many roles during that time. He was the Golf Pro, Superintendent of Grounds, and a board member. He also served as the Chewelah High School assistant golf coach.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Elda and Carrie McBride; three brothers, two sisters, and his late wife, Rosemarie. He is survived by his loving wife Kathy; brother, Charles McBride of Bossier City, La.; sisters Lillie Nunley and Carolyn Taylor of McMinnville; daughters Debby Kreis and husband Paul; Tammy Zibell and husband Dave; son, Randy; stepsons Michael Dell and wife Jean; Steven Dell and wife DeAnna; 13 beloved grandchildren, and nine beloved great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He lived his life to the fullest and his last wish was that his loving family and friends celebrate his life and not mourn his passing. Please join the McBride family for Robert’s celebration of life at the Chewelah Golf and Country Club on Sept. 20 from 2 to 5 p.m. For those who knew him best, please come and honor him with his favorite color of orange.
