Nancy Naomi Smith Barrett, 89, of McMinnville (Centertown community) died Monday, Oct. 22 at her residence. She was born Oct. 22, 1923 in Warren County and was a retired employee of Genesco Shoe, a homemaker, and a member of Center Hill Baptist Church. Mrs. Barrett was preceded in death by parents, Floyd and Ethel Bell Smith; husband Walter Malcolm Barrett; sisters Velma Fugiett, Annie Lee Todd, Alice Steed, and Hilmer Ward Hale; brother Forrest Raymon Smith; and sons-in-law Billy E. Prater, Bobby M. Hutchins, and Lane Elkins.Survivors include her daughters, June Prater, Bonnie Elkins Prater and Allen, Faye Hutchins Cunningham and Billy, and Louree Walker and Sammy; her son Leo Barrett and Teresa, all of McMinnville; sisters Audrey Gaunt and Nonnie Matheny; and brothers, Charlie Ray Smith and Willie T. Smith and Dorothy; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren.Funeral service is 2 p.m. today at Center Hill Baptist Church.
