Mr. Michael Edwin “Mike” Delon, 61, of Rock Island died Friday, April 1, at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born Jan. 31, 1955, in Lake Charles, La., was a truck driver with Hobbs Trucking Company, and was a member of Mt. Elim Baptist Church. Mr. Delon was preceded in death by father Carl W. Delon, mother Ora Lee Ney, daughter Charity Delon, and a brother Lynn Delon.
Survivors include his companion Sharon Laird, daughter Michelle (Jon Boy) Goodman, stepchildren Ashley and Ryan Laird, grandchildren Aaliyah Goodman and Whitney Fults, step-grandchild Kennedy Scott, sister Pamela Delon (David) Shields, brother Ricky (Lynne) Delon, stepfather John E. Ney, half-brother John R. (Rhonda) Ney, and a special aunt Evelyn Argo.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Tracy Curtis and Wayne Sullivan will officiate. Interment will follow at Long Cemetery in Van Buren County. The Delon family will receive friends Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home.
