Lois Montandon, 89

Rock Island resident and Van Buren County native Lois Montandon, 89, was born March 5, 1927 and died Sept. 1 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville following an extended illness.
Retired from Genesco, she was the daughter of the late Willie C. and Dovie Alice Craig Mills. She was married Oct. 2, 1946 to Don Montandon, who preceded her in death March 15, 1997. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by daughter Phyllis Montandon; and son Wayne Montandon.
She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Wilma Montandon of Sparta; two daughters and son-in-law, Belinda and Bill Gregory of Clinton and Melissa Montandon of Knoxville; daughter-in-law Anzena Montandon of Rock Island; sister Evelyn Walker of Rock Island; five grandsons and spouses, Mark Nunley of Oak Ridge, Russell and Renee Montandon of Viola, Matt and Victoria Montandon of Sparta, Jason and Melissa Montandon of McMinnville, and Michael and Leesa Montandon of Cookeville; six great-grandchildren, Keshia Ashton and husband Josh of Spencer, Luke Montandon of Minot, N.D., Ethan Montandon and Elanor Montandon, both of Viola, and Marlie Montandon and Sloan Montandon, both of McMinnville; great-great-grandson Brian Lynn Ashton of Spencer; uncle George Mills of Decatur, Ala.; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, neighbors and friends also survive.
Mrs. Montandon was a resident of the Campaign community in Warren County for many years and a member of Campaign Church of God. She was also an active participant and supporter of the Campaign Community Club for many years before her illness.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at High’s Chapel with Bill Montandon and James Dykes officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service Sunday at High’s.
High Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Thomas Norman Theiss, Sr., 77

Thomas Norman Theiss, Sr. was born May 24, 1947 and went home to be with Jesus on Friday afternoon, March 28, 2025. He was born and lived in Michigan for 45 years and then moved to McMinnville, Tennessee for the last 32 years.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick Donald and Caroline Filipowski Theiss; brother, Donald Theiss and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Eula Presley.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 51 years, Glenda Marie Presley Theiss; children, Susan (Mark) Long, Brandy Perez, Cindy Hale, Gwendolyn (Richard) Holt, Tammy Norma Theiss, and Tommy Norman Theiss, Jr.; grandchildren, Sean, Gabriel, Jaylen, Gavin, Tommy Ray, Hannah, and Diane; great-granddaughters, Lea and Luci; sisters, Cheryl (Butch) Galyon, Lorry Cantrell, Debra Prokoff; brother, Larry (Carolyn) Theiss; many sisters-in-laws, brothers-in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Mr. Tom enjoyed fishing, hunting, serving the Lord as well as playing games with the children, cooking and eating wild meat. He really enjoyed his church family at Peoples Pentecostal Church, where he faithfully attended.

Funeral Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Peoples Pentecostal Church with his pastor, Michael Hewell and Jay Young officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday 2 p.m. until 7 p.m., Monday 1 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Tuesday 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. al visitation at Peoples Pentecostal Church.
