L.C. Mayfield, 81, a Rock Island resident and Warren County native, was born Feb. 2, 1931 and died Nov. 20 at River Park Hospital following an extended illness.
A retired employee of Cumberland Lumber Company, he was the son of the late Thomas Stephenson and Charlie Bright Elkins Mayfield. He was also preceded in death by two halfsisters, Levesta Measles and Ethel Jones
He was married May 15, 1948 to Dorothy Emogene Dykes Mayfield who survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Barbara Ann (Henry) Wagoner of McMinnville, and Lisa Boyd of Morrison; four grandsons and their spouses, Steve (Denise) Mayfield, Roger Wagoner, Phillip (Kerry) Boyd and Michael (Kellie) Boyd, all of Campaign; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Campaign Church of Christ with Jason Gann officiating. Burial will follow at Crain Hill Cemetery in Van Buren County. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. Friday at High Funeral Home.
