Rock Island resident and Cummingsville native Kenneth Hugh Hodges Sr., 77, was born April 11, 1938 and died March 17 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center following a four-month illness.
Retired from Tennessee Metal Fabricating Corporation and a United States Navy veteran, he was the son of the late Allison Clarence and Clata Savage Hodges. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Murphy Hodges.
He was married April 15, 1961 to his wife of 55 years, Helen Joyce Johnson Hodges of Rock Island. In addition to his wife, he is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Kenny and Amie Hodges of McMinnville; grandson, Brandon Hodges and wife Kristen of Hixson; granddaughter, Kendra Hodges of McMinnville; sister, Marie Hitchcox of Knoxville; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at High’s Chapel with Rev. James Elbert Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. View Cemetery with military honors administered by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at High’s.
