Julia Mae Howser Smith, 82

Rock Island resident and Bledsoe County native Julia Mae Howser Smith, 82, was born Feb. 28, 1935 and died April 25 at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville.Retired from Aquatech and a member of the First Church of Jesus Christ Apostolic Faith, she was the daughter of the late John Earl and Demier Elizabeth Goforth Howser. She was married to Ruben William “Bud” Smith, who preceded her in death. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Betty Pruitt, Margaret Sullivan and Lorene Brewer; three brothers, Frank, Harold and Earl Howser; and brother-in-law, Melvin Matthews.She is survived by two daughters, Karen Cagle of Pikeville and Doris Castillo of Campaign; son Ruben Smith of Campaign; five grandchildren Billy Myers of Campaign, Michael Myers and Kasey Smith, both of Morrison, Matthew Walker of Pikeville and Cassie Johnson of McMinnville; 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Mary Matthews of Pikeville and Elaine Richardson of Campaign; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Pam Howser of Maryville, Bill and Bonnie Howser of Bledsoe County, and Randal and Jean Howser of Pikeville.
