Mr. John Hollis Jacobs, 88, of Morrison died Saturday, April 21, at Saint Thomas West Hospital in Nashville.
He was born Jan. 11, 1930, in Morrison, served his country in the United States Marine Corps, was retired after 40 years of service at Caney Fork Electric Co-Op, Inc., was a charter member and active for 51 years at Morrison Ruritan Club, former Little League, Babe Ruth, and Community League Baseball Coach, was a lifetime fan of Vanderbilt Commodores and Saint Louis Cardinals baseball teams, and was an active member of Morrison United Methodist Church. Mr. Jacobs was preceded in death by parents Andrew and Minnie Hollis Jacobs, brother Bill Jacobs, sister Jo Robinson, half-brothers Ted, Clarence, Leslie, Harris, and Gene Jacobs, and half-sister Waldine Whitehead.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years Helen Gilley Jacobs, daughter Ann Eades, son Andy Jacobs and special friend Cindy Nickerson, granddaughter Autumn (John) Hawkins, and great-grandson Jack Andrew Hawkins, sister Vivian Toman, and brother Chico (Lynne) Jacobs. Other family members and friends also survive.
Funeral service was Tuesday, April 24, at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Lanny Johnson and Bro. Lavell Whitehead will officiate. Interment will follow at Morrison Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.mcminnvillefuneralhome.com.
