Joe Lane Howard, 81, a Warren County native and McMinnville resident died Dec. 3 at NHC Healthcare in McMinnville following an extended illness.
He was the former owner of McMinnville’s Dairy Queen, veteran of the Tennessee Army National Guard, member of First Baptist Church, and son of the late Asa T. and Ola Mai Wilson Howard.
Mr. Howard was married Sept. 19, 1952 for 60 years to Betty June Kirby Howard, who preceded him in death Jan. 3, 2013. He was also preceded in death by brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Janice Howard.
He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Kathy Howard of Brentwood; brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Betty Howard of McMinnville and special friend, Brenda Marlowe of McMinnville.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church with Bo Hendrix and Derek Howard to officiate. Visitation will be 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at High’s. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Magness Memorial Library of First Baptist Church.
