Jean Augusta Gilley, 86, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2015 at St. Thomas, Rutherford. A native of Huntsville, Ala., she was raised in Warren County and lived in Nashville and when she retired she moved to Readyville. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles A. Gilley and Flossie Dowell Gilley and her brother, Douglas Gilley.
She is survived by her sister, Gayle VanHooser of McMinnville; nieces, Kathryn L. (Bill) Hopkins of Nashville, Julia (Alan) George of McMinnville, Nancy (Craig) Doman of Murfreesboro, Sarah P. (Josh) Harris of Kingston Springs; nephew, Ranse William (Kay) VanHooser of McMinnville; great-nieces and nephews, Matt (Jessica) George, Maria George, Jacqui and Staci VanHooser, all of McMinnville and Peyton Harris of Kingston Springs.
Ms. Gilley was a member of the Cripple Creek Presbyterian Church, Daughters of the American Revolution and the Home Demonstration Club. Retired from TVA, she loved doing many things including sewing, quilting, knitting, traveling, reading and visiting with her friends and family.
Funeral services were held Thursday in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Laurence D. Clark officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, McMinnville.
