McMinnville resident and Cannon County native James William Underwood, 89, was born March 26, 1929 and died April 10 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville following a brief illness. A farmer, retired from Powermatic, a United States Army veteran of Korea, and a member of the Methodist Church, he was the son of the late Rufus and Lena Pennington Underwood. He was married to Juanita Simpson Underwood of McMinnville.
