Rock Island resident and Belgrade, Maine native James Richard Stevens, 69, was born Dec. 17, 1946 and died Aug. 4 at his residence following an extended illness. A retired heavy equipment operator and truck driver with Rock Island Express, a United States Navy veteran of Vietnam, and a member of the Baptist church, he was the son of the late Louis Kidder and Charlotte Rose Tracy Stevens. He was married Nov. 1, 2010 to Lorraine Damron Stevens of Rock Island.
