James Henry Christian, 89, of Geneva, Ohio (formerly of Warren County) died Tuesday, July 22, at his residence.
He was born June 6, 1925, in McMinnville and was a retired painter and rigger for Diamond-Shamrock Corp., was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, member of Lake County Rod and Gun Club and the Diamond Boat Club. Mr. Christian was preceded in death by parents, Algie and Hallie Jennings Christian; sisters, Martha and Thelma Christian and Joanne Osborne; and brothers, Clifton, J.H., J.L., and William Christian.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Ada Lepard Christian; daughter, Sharon (Tom) Ondrejech; son, James Christian; grandchildren, Rachel Kuehn, Jennifer Kotlar, Fay Evans, James Lee Christian, Alysia Marcotte; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Meffard and Margaret Hulett; and brothers, George, John, and Earl Christian. Several nieces, nephews, and family members also survive.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 28, at Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Perry Cemetery. The Christian family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m., and Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Ave., Painesville, Ohio, 44077. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, or to Ashtabula County Historical Society.
