Hobert Lee Lewis, 90, of McMinnville died Monday, Sept. 30 at his residence.
He was born Jan. 26, 1923 in White County and was the former owner and operator of Hobert Lewis Realty and Auction Company, a member of Quebeck the Baptist Church, and served his country with the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by parents William Walter and Lela Belle Holton Lewis; his wife, Helen Joan Lewis; sisters, Wilda Lewis, Vetra Lewis, Velma Anderson, and Viola Pettit; and brothers, William L. Lewis, Fernando Lewis, Gaines Lewis, W.A. Lewis, T.R. Lewis, Herbert Lewis, and Herman Lewis.
Survivors include his children, Robert (Sue) Lewis, Teresa (Herschel) King, Robin (Charles) Rolley, Katie (Jackie) Matheny, Rita (Lonnie) Rogers, Lavetta (William) Westberry and Linda (Jeff) McGee; 23 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Tom Fittis will officiate. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in White County. Military grave rites will be administered by American Legion Post 173 and the VFW Post 5064. The Lewis family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 to 9 p.m., and again Thursday from 8 to 11 a.m. at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home.
