Smithville resident and Warren County native Harrison “Sonny” Biles Jr., 87, was born Sep. 20, 1929 and died May 10 at his residence following an extended illness.A retired supervisor with Arnold Engineering Air Force Base in Tullahoma, a U.S. Army veteran, and a member of East End Drive Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Harrison E. and Catherine Spurlock Biles Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by first wife, Bobbie Northcutt Biles; brother Bobby Biles; sister Josephine Crabtree; and great-granddaughter Tyneisha Bell. He was married Dec. 31, 1994 to Jean Stokes Biles of Smithville. In addition to his wife, he is survived by five sons, Harrison Eugene (Jessie) Biles III, Paul Biles, Billy Biles, and David Biles, all of McMinnville, and Leroy (Steve) Biles of San Antonio, Texas; five stepchildren, Timothy Tubbs of Washington, D.C., Gregory Tubbs of Cookeville, Anthony (Angela) Tubbs of Smithville, Darla (Stephen) Whitaker of Smyrna, and Shaun Tubbs of Smithville; devoted granddaughter, Charlisa Woods; brother, George Biles of Nashville; four sisters, Frankie Dalton, Marjorie Martin, Sally (Frank) Smith, and Barbara Biles, all of McMinnville; 22 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; life-long friends, Robert “Bub” Bonner and Phillip “Buddy” Smith; a host of nieces, nephews and church family; and special niece, Mary Sanders.Funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, May 13, at East End Drive Church of Christ with Burnes Lyons and Phillip Smith officiating.
