McMinnville resident and Elba, Ala., native, Ferrell Dixon Young, 92, was born Feb. 21, 1919 and died Feb. 19 at River Park Hospital following an extended illness. A retired civil servant, a United States Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Central Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Joseph Taylor and Evie Foley Young. He was married Feb. 4, 1944 to Daisy Ruth Smith Young, who preceded him in death Dec. 25, 2010.
