McMinnville resident and Warren County native Eugenia “Jeanie” Walker, 86, was born April 13, 1928 and died Aug. 27 at her residence following an extended illness.
A retired school teacher of 31 years with the Warren County School System and a member of Shellsford Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late Ervin and Hazel Chastain Bottoms. She was married Aug. 23, 1948 to Howard B. Walker, who preceded her in death Oct. 27, 2009. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Paul Bottoms.
Mrs. Walker received the Book of Golden Deeds award in 2009. She served as organist at Shellsford Baptist Church for 55 years.
She is survived by three children and their spouses, Paul and Sherry Walker, Randall and Sharon Walker, and Sandra and Don Stotts, all of McMinnville; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Chris Walker of Nashville, Chanda Malone, Nick Walker, Kelly (Chris) Slaughter and April Stotts, all of McMinnville, Phillip Walker of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Misty (Jason) Smith of Yorktown, Va.; six great-grandchildren, Amya Smith, Breydon Smith, Colsen Smith, Emily Malone, Gage Walker and Ray Walker, and special caregivers, Dionnea Stotts, Donna Spangler, Sonya Herrin and Brenda Muncey.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Shellsford Baptist Church with Donald Owens and David Daugherty officiating. Burial will follow at Shellsford Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, and 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at High’s.
