World War II veteran Ernest F. Carney Jr., 86, died Sunday, Dec. 16, at his home. A McMinnville resident and Syracuse, N.Y., native, Mr. Carney was preceded in death by his parents Ernest F. Carney Sr. and Frances Arnold Carney; his first wife Helen Carney; his second wife Betty E. Carney; sister Joan Fortino; brother Edward Carney; and stepson Francis D. LaQuier Jr. Mr. Carney was a retired employee of Womack Printing Company.He is survived by brother Don Carney of Syracuse, N.Y.; sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Sherry Carney of Bridgeport, N.Y., and Robert and Patricia Carney of Ooltewah; daughters and sons-in-law Linda and George Love and Sharon and Doug Villeneuve all of Gouverneur, N.Y.; step-daughter and husband, Nona and Mark Guertin of McMinnville; stepdaughter, Monica Maetzold of Garland, Texas; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.Per Mr. Carney’s request, he was cremated.
