Ernest “E.C.” Cline Halteman Jr., 96, Rock Island resident and Warren County native, was born Oct. 29, 1922 and passed away Oct. 15 following a brief illness.

He was veteran of the U.S. Navy, retired salesman with William B Riley Coffee Company, member of the Baptist Church and the son of the late Ernest Cline and Lillian Gribble Halteman, Sr.

He was married Dec. 29, 1944 to Jessie Terrell Halteman, who preceded him in death. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by brother Jack Carson Halteman.

Mr. Halteman is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Rhonda (Bill) Summerlin of Prattville, AL and Pat Halteman of Rock Island, grandchildren Pamela Farina of Marietta, Ga., and William (Rita) Earl Summerlin, Jr. of Prattville, AL; great-grandchildren, Justin (Jessica) Summerlin, Amy (William) Reid, Ashley Summerlin, A.J. (Hannah) Farina, and Meredith Farina; great-great-grandchildren, Ella Summerlin, Rush Reid, Cassidy Reid, Gunner Reid, Toney Farina, Vivian Farina, and Paige Summerlin.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, at High’s Chapel. Burial will follow at Brick House Cemetery with military grave rites conducted by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173. Visitation will be Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at High’s. Online condolences can be made at www.highfuneralhome.com.
