Edwin "Ed" Ezekiel Chastain, 84

McMinnville resident and Warren County native Edwin “Ed” Ezekiel Chastain, 84, was born Aug. 18, 1930 and died April 3 at NHC Healthcare in McMinnville following a three-month illness.Mr. Chastain was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing with neighbors and friends. A retired U.S. Postal Service rural carrier, a farmer and a member of Shellsford Baptist Church, he was the son of the late Miles Thomas and Myra Smoot Chastain Jr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Elsie Chastain, Zora Waldrop, Myra Elizabeth Chastain and Billie Vivian Jones; three brothers, J.T., Davis, and Ray Chastain; nephew, Jim Cantrell; and niece, Myra Lee Chastain. He is survived by eight nieces, nephews and their spouses, Vickie Kell, Marsha and Jack Reaves, and Carol and Jerry Phillips, all of McMinnville, and Myra and Al Charleston, Dickie Jones, Fay and Jerry McDaniel, Sue and Ronald Jordan, and Lewis and Lisa Jones, all of Carroll County; seven great-nieces, great-nephews and their spouses, Bryan and Kristen Kell, Jason and Lisa Norris, Lynne and Josh Hildrich, Jeremy and Penny Kell, Brad Kinney, Ron and Britni Jordan, and Miles Cantrell; and cousins, Grace Nuckolls, Sue Page and Malcolm “Pat” Smoot.A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Shellsford Baptist Church with Donald Owens and David Daugherty officiating.
