Manchester resident and Davidson County native Douglas Ulysses Hobbs, 92, was born May 10, 1924 and died Feb. 9 at his residence following an extended illness. A retired aircraft mechanic with AEDC, a United States Air Force veteran of World War II and Korea, and a member of Morrison Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Enoch J. and Almira Mildred Bryan Hobbs. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Louise Freeze Hobbs; daughter Sandra Louise Hobbs; and brother Herbert Hobbs.
