Ulysses Hobbs died February 9 at his residence.

Manchester resident and Davidson County native Douglas Ulysses Hobbs, 92, was born May 10, 1924 and died Feb. 9 at his residence following an extended illness.
A retired aircraft mechanic with AEDC, a United States Air Force veteran of World War II and Korea, and a member of Morrison Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Enoch J. and Almira Mildred Bryan Hobbs. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Louise Freeze Hobbs; daughter Sandra Louise Hobbs; and brother Herbert Hobbs.
He is survived by wife, Shirley Rogers Hobbs of Manchester; three daughters, Claudia Jae Iliff, Stephanie "Pat" Vincent and Deanna Kaye Hobbs, all of Morrison; stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Linda and James Roller of McMinnville; and six grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Morrison Church of Christ with Roger Comstock officiating. Burial will follow at Summitville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Sunday at the church. Online condolences may be made at www.highfuneralhome.com.
