David T. Gribble was born in Rock Island on Feb. 25, 1935 and passed away Sept. 22.
He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army and graduated from Tennessee Polytechnic Institute in 1958. Mr. Gribble also completed course work at Columbia University. He moved to Nashville to work for Green Seed Company, where he was a lifelong employee. He was very passionate about his work and stayed well connected to his colleagues. In his free time he enjoyed gardening and fishing, and most of all he will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda A. Gribble, children Mike (Lori) Gribble, Mark (Michelle) Shafer, Jennifer (Todd) Wright and Rachel Tolbert, grandchildren Katherine Gribble, Carson Gribble, Tatum Shafer, Abby Wright and Luke Wright; brother, Phillip (June) Gribble; sister-in-law, Alta Faye Gribble; and niece, Phyllis Kamacho.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Myra Grissom Gribble, wife Joyce Gribble and brother Joe Gribble.
Gathering of family and friends will be Thursday, Sept. 26, at Hermitage Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m., and also Friday, Sept. 27, from 10 to 11 a.m. A celebration of life will begin at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at Hermitage Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.
