McMinnville resident and Warren County native David Howard Slaughter, 78, died Nov. 27 at River Park Hospital after extended illness.A retired employee of Batesville Casket Company and a member of Philadelphia the Baptist Church, he served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.He was the son of the late Frank G. and Velma Jennings Slaughter, and was preceded in death by daughter, Micha Louise Slaughter and stepfather, James Henry Killian.He is survived by children, Pamela Ann and Jay Hamilton of Coldwater, Carl D.W. Slaughter of Irving College and Dustin Slaughter of McMinnville; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Betty and Ralph Smartt, and Patsy Tate of Beersheba Springs, and Wilma Wanamaker of McMinnville; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Wanda Killian of McMinnville; and several nieces and nephews.Services will be held at noon Thursday at High’s Chapel with Wendell Judkins officiating. Burial will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery with military graveside rites administered by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.
