Clifton Edward Jones, 71, a Sumner County resident and Warren County native, was born April 8, 1948 and passed away Oct. 26 following an extended illness.
He was a retired owner/operator of Jones Landscaping and Irrigation Contractors, a member of the Baptist Church, and the son of the late Brackett and Chloe Stoner Jones. He was also preceded in death by grandson Mason Cranford, sisters Frances Wilson, Opal Cantrell, Faye Hobbs, Geraldine Reynolds, Gail Bouldin and Johnnie Mae Jones.
Mr. Jones is survived by wife Cheryl Watson Jones of Portland, TN, two sons Travis and Andrea Jones of Walling, Joel and Amie Jones of Sparta, daughter Kristal Mason of Smithville, two stepsons, Bobby and Natalie Cranford of Portland, Barry and Becky Cranford of Portland, 11 grandchildren, Mason, Brittney, Avery, Justin, Anna, Amy, Allie, Ava, Ian, Maddox, and Theron; two step-grandchildren, Zach and KayLee, sister Arlene Jones Oakley of Rock Island, brother Burton and Lena Jones of Smithville, and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, at High’s Chapel with Danny Jones and Teddy Jones officiating. Inurnment will be held at Jefferson Cemetery in DeKalb County at a later date.
