Clata Pearl Groves, 82, a Rock Island resident and Warren County native, died Nov. 2 in Raintree Manor following a four-month illness.She was a retired employee of Brenda’s Sports Wear, a member of Jericho Church of Christ, and daughter of the late Oscar Earl and Willie Everett Hurtt Turner. Mrs. Groves was married March 30, 1957 to Rayborn Earl Groves, who preceded her in death on Jan. 11, 2010. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by son Dennis Groves; sister Elizabeth Braxton; and brothers Eugene and Jim Turner.Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Glenda and Tommy Kell of Rock Island; four grandchildren, Traci Martin and husband Cain of McMinnville, Taylor Kell of Rock Island and Chelsey and Kassey Groves, both of Monterey; great-grandson, Grayson Martin of McMinnville; adopted son Mike Groves of Monterey; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Josephine Turner, Ike and Bea Turner and Frank and Cindy Turner, all of Morrison and Marion and Connie Jo Turner of the Vervilla community; sister, Dorothy Pierce of Donathan, Mo; sister-in-law, Jewell Groves of Rock Island; foster girls, Brenda and Rita Simmons; several nieces, nephews and many friends; and special nurses, Becca Farless and Marli Rigsby.Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Friday at High’s Chapel with Gene Brock, Kevin Key and Titus Ward to officiate.
