Charles E. Chuck Neely, 77

Charles E. “Chuck” Neely, 77, of Martinez, Ga., died Sunday, Nov. 13.
The husband of the late Sara LaFavor Neely, he served 25 years in the U.S. Army as a first sergeant E-8. He received the Meritorious Service Medal, the Bronze Star, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, two Overseas Bars, the National Defense Service Medal and the Presidential Unit Citation. After his time in the service, Mr. Neely worked with Atlanta Dairies. He then joined Wackenhut where he worked for 11 years and then Walmart for 10 years in the hardware department. Mr. Neely was a member of Martinez Baptist Church.
Family members include daughter, Marie Speer (Steve) of St. John, Ariz.; stepdaughters, Jayne May Norman (Perry) of Martinez, and Joyce May Loyal (Ranny) of Augusta; grandchildren, Stevie Speer, April Grealish and Heather Carver; great-grandchildren, Emily, Megan, Bryson and Cole; and sisters, Robbie Prater and Brenda Silas, both of McMinnville. Mr. Neely was preceded in death by brother Mack Neely and son John Robert Neely.
A graveside service with full military honors will be held today at 11 a.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Rev. Phillip Winsett officiating.
